Arrange a conversationAftercare, stage by stage
Stage 1
While you are in Armenia
You are under the care of MEDinES Medical Center. Surgical complications requiring additional treatment while you are under the clinic’s care in Armenia are managed by the clinic. Surgical decision-making remains with Dr Mariam Manukyan.
Stage 2
Your first two weeks at home
You have a scheduled consultation with Dr Manukyan each week, so the surgeon who operated on you is the surgeon reviewing your recovery. Alongside that, we book you an in-person wound review with a UK-registered private GP nominated by Dr Mariam before travel. The appointment is booked before you return home, while you are still in Yerevan. The GP examines the wound, changes or removes dressings, removes sutures where appropriate, and treats a wound infection if one is developing. This is included in your pathway price.
Stage 3
What the UK appointment is, and is not
It is wound care close to home, with a doctor you can sit in front of. It is not surgery. If something needs surgical correction, that is a conversation with Dr Manukyan. We do not plan on the assumption that the NHS will pick this up: the NHS treats genuine emergencies, and does not provide routine aftercare, suture removal or revision for private surgery arranged abroad.
Stage 4
In an emergency
Sudden breathlessness, chest pain, heavy bleeding or a rapidly spreading infection — 911 in Armenia, 999 or A&E in the UK. Tell them you have had recent surgery and give them the date of the operation. Then tell us.
Unless expressly confirmed in writing in your individual booking terms, or covered by your specialist medical travel insurance, the pathway price does not include UK private treatment, a future return flight to Armenia, additional accommodation after a return trip, or elective revision or re-operation after you have returned home. Before you travel
Specialist medical travel insurance
Patients are expected to arrange specialist medical travel insurance appropriate to planned elective/cosmetic surgery abroad. Standard holiday insurance may not cover planned surgery or related complications. If you have not yet arranged cover, we can provide information about specialist providers so that you can obtain a quote and purchase suitable cover directly. We do not sell, arrange or advise on insurance products.
Departure is not guaranteed by the typical-stay figure. Your surgeon confirms fit-to-fly timing. If general anaesthesia is used, UK FCDO Travel Aware guidance advises planning to remain in-country for at least 10 days after surgery. Please check current FCDO travel advice before you travel.
