Understanding breast reduction
What breast reduction involves
Reduction mammoplasty removes breast tissue, fat and skin, and repositions the nipple-areola complex to sit in proportion with the reshaped breast. Many patients considering it describe long-standing neck, shoulder or back discomfort, bra strap grooving or difficulty with exercise. The technique — most commonly a vertical or an inverted-T (anchor) pattern — is selected by Dr Mariam Manukyan according to breast volume and skin quality, and each pattern leaves a different scar footprint that is explained to you before you travel.

Often suitable where
- Physical discomfort, posture strain or skin irritation related to breast volume
- Breast development complete and volume broadly stable
- Comfortable with permanent scarring around the areola and beneath the breast
- Willing to attend UK breast screening as normally recommended for your age
Usually not appropriate where
- Currently breastfeeding, or planning to breastfeed in the near future
- Unresolved breast lumps or imaging findings awaiting investigation
- Smoking that cannot be stopped before surgery, which affects wound healing

Recovery timeline
How recovery typically unfolds
An indicative guide to breast reduction recovery. Individual healing varies, and your own timeline is confirmed by your surgeon.
Days 1–3
Hospital stay with dressings and a supportive surgical bra; arm movement is kept limited.
Days 4–10
Clinic-based recovery in Yerevan, wound review before discharge from the pathway and clearance to travel.
Weeks 2–6
Most patients return to light work within two to three weeks. A support bra is usually worn day and night for around six weeks.
Months 3–12
Shape settles as swelling resolves; scars fade gradually. Nipple sensation may change temporarily or, less commonly, permanently.

- Fixed for 30 days. A currency buffer is already built in, so exchange-rate changes do not move your quote.
- A 10% booking deposit secures your surgical date and is part of the total. The balance is paid to the clinic in Armenia.
- The price you accept is the price you pay, unless you ask us to change something.
- Cancellation and refund conditions are given to you in writing before you pay a deposit.
Your price covers treatment at MEDinES Medical Center and UK coordination. Written quotes include a currency buffer, remain fixed despite exchange-rate changes and are valid for 30 days.

Included: surgeon review, the procedure, anaesthesia, pre-operative investigations in Armenia, your inpatient nights with nursing care, dressings and dressing changes, medicines during your stay, meals during your inpatient stay, airport and clinic transfers, and UK coordination throughout.
After discharge: recovery accommodation is included for the nights shown for your procedure. Meals after discharge are not included — you choose where and what you eat.
Not included: flights, specialist medical travel insurance, additional nights beyond your planned stay (£41 per night), and personal or leisure services.

The published price covers the agreed clinical care, recovery accommodation and UK coordination.
Patients are expected to arrange specialist medical travel insurance appropriate to planned elective or cosmetic surgery abroad. Standard holiday insurance may not cover planned surgery or related complications.
